Dancing with light

Friday: I broke in a new photo assistant Monica Taylor from Mount Ayr, Iowa. Monica is an art student at Northwest and I photographed her just last month for the Northwest Alumni Magazine. She's interested in photography so I wanted to give her a chance to help.
We spent about six and a half hours photographing the dance students at Bearcat Boogie, which is a studio run by Dave and Dana Schmidt with numerous national awards.
Things were going well, but I was getting bored with the lighting so when things slowed down late in the evening I had a chance to light several students with a shoot-through umbrella. I also powered down the lights to minimum power and used my 85mm at f2 for minimal depth of field.
I really liked the results.
